Subject: Re: Using Isolator with Adjustable Voltage Regulator?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

The voltage readings (13.8) you're getting with your isolator setup are too low. The voltage at the alternator should read somewhere about .7 volts higher than yours. I would guess your regulator still makes some contact on the alternator prong. That's easy to correct. Look carefully at this picture on my isolator installation website. http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/images/isolator_6.jpg If you have a problem still making contact inside the alternator, you should also bend the metal tab on the regulator, as you can see on my photo. The regulator tab that the wire is soldered onto is bent all the way up, far away from the contact inside the alternator, to ensure that those 2 contacts do not touch. I suggest you do the same, and maybe that will fix your problem. I can assure you if everything is done correctly, the Sure Power isolator works just fine with the Bosch regulator. Another thing you can try is to put a little piece of shrink tube insulator around both prongs, alternator and regulator. I'm leaving on a camping trip, so I won't be around for awhile.
