The first owner of my 83 Air Cooled westy got over 145K out of the engine
before rebuild.
I rebuilt the engine and sold the van with 320K on the van.
I had gotten about 150k out of my engine and rebuilt it when it still has
120 psi compression.
I always ran an oil cooler and monitored my temperatures with Cylinder Head
Temp, Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature gauges.
Sorry you had such bad luck with the Air Cooled you owned.
Stan
