Subject: Need a Syncro!
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Just got back from a very nice weekend, first trip this year in our '88 Westy. However, our intended destination was unreachable due to knee deep water (20-24") in the creek we must cross to reach the site. I managed to cross the first creek (about 16" water) after getting a quick tow from a friend's 4Runner - I didn't have enough speed going in, and the rear end dug in coming out of the creek - the rear bumper was under water... I did manage the return crossing without a tow, using more speed going in (about 4000rpm in 1st).

A few more incidents like this and I might have my wife convinced that we *need* a Syncro! :-)

So, for those of you lucky enough to have one, is a flowing creek, 12" - 24" deep, with large round boulders, approximately 1/4 mile long, something the Syncro can handle? I have driven this same creek several times when dry in the summer with the current Westy, and it is not a problem, although clearance is tight at times.
