I kinda recall from when I helped at my friends workshop that itīs the other way around though, the blue wire ( from charging light ) should tell the relay that there isnīt enough power in the system thereby trigger the system to start working Iīm not 100 % sure about this though, maybe someone else out there know this better ....

Anyway, you wrote that you've changed the alternator and I guess you have the standard item with buildt in relay ?? Then that should be new too - right ?? And with the D+ wire OK, the only thing I could think of that might spook things like this is ground wires on either alternator, relay, engine or gearbox...... or instrument cluster or battery or.....

If it would have been the same alternator it might have been a diode with weak soldering too but since thatīs changed Iīd start with ground checks - all over
