If I were to put the $40K I'd have to spend on a new domestic camper into my Westy I'd end up with a killer Vanagon and money left over for a several good vacations.

My list: TDI engine, rebuilt transmission with proper gearing, all new suspension bushings, bearings, body seals, paintjob, upholstery, carpet, A/C (up front, thank you), big brakes, e-code headlights, 16'' wheels and tires, and a hula girl on the dashboard. Result: 25 mpg on the highway and a very cool and a very reliable vehicle.

Well, it's nice to dream, anyway. :-)
