The car was a sales disaster in Germany...it was sold as a Volkswagen-Porsche...the 4 cylinder model (from VW 411, 73-on Type 2 motor) was sold by VW dealers, the 6 cylinder model (w/911 T derived motor) was sold by Porsche dealers. The 914 as a result of the split heritage, was nick named the "VoPo".....the Vopo was also the slang for the East German state police!
