Subject: WOW...Header pipes glowing red?

I was checking the timimg tonigh, just before taking off for the long weekend. I know that the S&S exhaust tubing is thin, but should they be glowing red? They are red for about 8 inches from the cylinder heads. I had the RPM's up over 2000 as per the manual. The motor was at full temp.

Now, it is dark out, but this does not look normal.

I know that my cat converter is not plugged, the prev. owner hollowed it out.

Should I stay home this weekend? I was planning a 150 mile trip.

Thanks, Ed
