Who owned and drove a passel of them thar sports cars with alufin drums, sidecurtains often left at home, wind in the face, brooklands screens, copper faced hammers to change the tyres, pirelli cinturatos, ton up was an accomplishment not a requirement, armstrong lever shocks in the back, weber DCOE9 40s, Nardi woodwork, Smiths chronometric tachometers, bucket seats that felt exactly like sitting in a bucket full of old sheep, soft tops that you had to assemble out of a miscellany of hoops and rags. The clock had a winding knob, made by Heuer, called a MonteCarlo, the curta rode in the glovebox, Geo Lucas made the best headlights. Cooper made the neatest mirrors, ZF made transmissions and ACB Chapman used a BMC box in the Lotus which although a twin cam valvetrain actually had three camshafts (Ford 105E block) So there...Still friday on the left coast where tomatoboy has exceeded my sportingcars by a big measure.
