I finally got the AC compressor off of the mount bracket. The bolts giving me such trouble were soaked in Marvels Mystery Oil (the real hi-grade penetrating oil - the original MMO -) an then I reefed on them with a 1/2 inch drive pull handle and ot the job done.

Turns out there are two mount brackets. One is cast aluminum and bolts to the case, the other is a sheetmetal thing that is part of the belt tensioning adjustment. This latter piece was broken underneath.

Will post how repairs go.
