Are you sure the oil pump was the correct size? I specifically did not use a new one in my engine because it fit loosely in the oil pump bore.... wasn't the 0.006" interference (or whatever that number was). Rather, it was a small clearance. That means not a very good seal, i suppose.

Anyway, just a thought.
