Bravo! Brilliantly-put.

The safety Nazis are just that... using the catchcry to justify huge revenues brought about at YOUR expense. Bad roads (passing lanes on 2-lane roads across blind humps & corners and narrow bridges; potholes etc), incompetent drivers (not indicating) deliberate bad driving (roadhogging, pulling illegal turns, not giving way at intersections etc) are utterly ignored, but millions are spent on cops, their cars & speed cameras in order to rake in billions... not one cent of which makes it into the roading infrastructure. It's the same here in Enzed and in the Land of Oz too. The middle-aged brits have the idea... grayhairs are out smashing ststic speedcameras all around the country. These will be uninsured (before long if not already)... keep doing it until Big Brother just can't justify spending money on replacements.

Gummints of course lie through their teeth, claiming that studies show that cameras & enforcement are producing a drop in the road toll. However guess who pays for these particular "studies"...

Real independent studies with no hidden (poorly or otherwise!) agendas show that speed on its own is NOT a major factor in producing accidents, and that those areas (Germany & NT, Australia) with no speed limits have the lowest accident & fatality rates per distance driven in the world... and in the case of NT, the drivers are NOT good ones!

So WHEN are we, the public, going to hold these bastards (the politicians & cops) responsiblew for what they're doing? Who pays the taxes? Are these democracies or not?
