Subject: Re: Oil Change: I know this sounds ridiculous... One important and often overlooked point is to check that the old oil filter gasket is still on the filter and not stuck to the oil filter mount. If that is the case, then when one installs the new filter there will be two gaskets, and if they don't leak right away, they WILL blow out at a future point and make a BIG mess in the engine compartment. I used to do warranty work for Hertz rental used car sales, and I have seen this happen more than once when "shade tree" mechanics change their oil and don't pay close attention. Later Derek - |
