so i have been sorting through my vast volkswagen parts collection
recently, trying to reduce its size.  i was looking over the starter
collection and trying to figure what is interchangealbe with what.  i was
looking at the 1.9 vanagon starter in comparison to the scirocco starters
that i have on the shelf.  they look to be the same other than the vanagon
starters have a longer stud on the solenoid.  can anyone comment on this?

specifically if one were to change the solenoid on the scirocco starter
could it be used on a vanagon?  additionally if anyone has or knows where
to source the power outputs for various bosch starters i would be
interested to know.  of great interest to me is the output of a diesel
starter vs a gasoline starter.
