A friend of mine did add a bypass oil filter to his Rabbit and did a similar run of tests. His was a gas engined car and went 100K before he had to change the oil. Keep in mind, when changing the filter media once per year, you add some oil which helps it along and you increase the crankcase volume by about 2 quarts which also helps it go the distance. This is still remarkable.
