That's one of several problems with ETKA vs Original Microfiche Plates. The ETKA is poor when trying to determine odd-ball connectors such as this one.

The original fiche, although rendering a better illustration, doesn't do much better, but the fiche has towards the end complete illustrations of all the connectors used on just that the vehicle.

Looking at Syncro Illustration 136-00 on ETKA (136 on the Syncro fiche), the fiche better indicates that only a flat terminal housing could be used to connect to the board and an educated guess is 6 terminals/strips on the board (please correct if wrong). Armed with that tidbit of knowledge, I scanned Illustration 405 on the fiche which covers only pin connectors of various configurations and have come up with one possibility:

161-945-247 Flat Contact Housing, 6 Pin

Is it correct? Dunno, but it looks like the likeliest candidate to fill the bill.

To find it in ETKA, go to Special Catalogs, select the Electrical Connectors and go to 6 pin connectors and go to 970-90 and see connector #9.

171-972-999 is more of a square shaped connector, probably suitable for the Headlight Switch or related.

Hope this helps :-)

Greetings,

I am in desperate need for the part number for the connector which connects to the differential lock circuit board on the syncro differential lock dash part. This circuit board has 4 lights in it and has a 6-pin, flat connector. The part number for the circuit board is

251-919-181

Looking at ETKA, one can find several part numbers on the wiring harness. Assuming VW put the correct part in the package, 171-972-999 is NOT the correct part.

Can anyone help? Would really appreciate the correct part number.
