Today's Child car seats have many ways to hook up, I use the middle 2 seats for my 2 girls and run the strap over the seat and attach it to the under metal frame so the car seat will not move and rock, also my kids have 3 point connects in the seat but you need to make sure they are adjusted right, ALL my kids came home in the van after being born. do reseach on the car seat first you don't want to skimp on this, get something that is well known and rated good, AKA no recalls

back in the day I drove my son in my bug with a car seat up front since the old risk of fire freaked me out some, and today this is un-heard of. but I kept cool and grew up with 2 other kids driving in a bug most my life with my mom. norcal-socal all the time

my buddy told me stories of going across the US in an old air cooled bus with no seat belts, but times have changed and more people on the road so you get the idea, some don't care if you have kids and just drive like nuts regardless, other words they don't care about anyone but themselfs in driving. sad if you ask me. so I say protect you and your kiddies whenever possible.

take it eazy. Joe

I am glad that we are having this discussion/recollection at this time. My wife and I just found out that we are going to be parents and were discussing how increased technology over the past 30-40 years had added to the cost of pregnancy/child birth/child safety in this country.

When we got to the subject of child seats in cars, I was stumped. Can anyone tell me approximately when these became mainstream/required by law?

TIA,

Scott Walker
