Love it! I do own a few other Vanagons which are 4 & speed manuals. The AT gets all the commute driving. They are considered robust relative to the fragile manuals with theor frequently failing 3rd/4th sliders. The AT's enemy is heat from high-horsepower engines. Heat fries seals and the resulting loss of fluid can lead to trouble. Not problematic on stock engines at all.
