I agree. Auctions are for people in the business to make money from
their auctions. If that's your bag, there's ebay.  The notion of a
price dependent on demand seems to me to run contrary to the spirit of
this list. If one were without the resources this list offers, it would
be reasonable to claim that one didn't know the value of this part or
the other, and needed an auction format to determine the value. But
with a resource such as this list, it's not necessary to resort to an
auction to determine a fair price. There's expertise here, let's avail
ourselves of it.

I think if someone has an item to sell to the list, they should ask
first what is a fair price for it. I imagine they would get an honest
answer, and think they should sell the item accordingly.

I don't have anything against auctions, but there's ebay for that.
