The coolant light and oil light are seperate.

If we're talking about the light on the coolant gauge, it will blink if the coolant in the expansion tank (the one inside the engine bay, not the one in the license plate area) is low. It will also blink if the sensor for it is dirty, if your coolant mix isn't close to 50/50, or if it just feels like making trouble.

The steam indicates a leak somewhere, which you'll need to locate.
