In addtion to the orange coolant mentioned: Also you have the option of using the VW phosphate-free coolant which sells for about $25 a gallon at the VW dealer. A brand named Autobahn also makes the phosphate free coolant--some VW dealers sell this--I think it's more like $16-20 a gallon. Both the VW coolant and the Autobahn coolant are blue in color.

Rodgers, fascinating stuff that news about the sensor sampling the density of the coolant mixture. I had no idea it was that sophisticated. That's James Bond stuff, "Excuse me Miss Moneypenny, but this blinking light tells me this Martini is a bit light on Gin." Thanks for that info. (on the coolant sensor).
