I started running Mobil 1 in my engine ahortly after I bought my Vanagon 4 years ago with 124K miles on the clock. It now has 189K miles with no problems other than the occasional lifter bleed-down, which has been occuring since my purchase. I change the oil every 5000 to 7500 miles depending on the type of driving I do.

I ran Mobil 1 in my now-sold Ford Aerostar from 24K miles until I sold it with over 125K on the clock. When the van had about 115K miles the intake manifold gasket blew due to a stuck thermostat and resulting overheating. During the gasket replacement I had to pull the valve cover gaskets and was impressed with the clean valve covers and rockers. I changed the oil every 7500 miles in the Ford.
