I had a '75 bus where the pop top warped *severely* so there was about a 1" gap there. On older vans, there was actually a piece of wood laid up in the fiberglass to support that front edge, and on mine it seemed to have warped.

I don't know if there's anything you can adjust to fix it. Before I sold that van, I had thought about using some Jeep hood hold-downs at the front corners to snug the top down. I think it would have worked.
