- I couldn't disagree more. My 2.1l motor pushes around an un-aerodynamic +4000 lb vehicle +20,000 miles a year, 95% of the time with the A/C on both in city traffic and doing 70 mph on the Interstate; it needs the best oil money can buy.

So, What exactly does a vanagon engine pushing around a 4000lb vehicle with the AC on 95% of the time run with respect to oil temp in degrees?

How much above "standard" use vehicles does it run?

Surely you have done this research correct?

I know of many large rig truck drivers whos rigs push 80.000 lb loads in much larger aerodynamic profiles for many many more miles than your 20 k and guess what? They use non synthetics and change it regulary.

The engine temps and oil requirements on the ole simple push rod wbx do not require the benefits of synthetic.

It has never leaked oil and the inside of the motor is as clean as the day it came out of the factory. Synthetic oil is cheap insurance, I change it every 5K, if I was using dino oil, I'd be changing it every 7 weeks.

Goldibox is ready to turn over to 230,000 miles, an oil change is due next week. Wal-Mart has the 5-qt jugs of Mobil 1 15W-50 on sale for $19.00.

Good luck,
