Back when I drove bugs, the plugs were inspected at every valve adjustment. Perhaps the aircooled Van folks do it this way, too... but honestly, how many waterboxer people on the list are going to get 100K miles on their stock engine? And generally, it's a matter of course to replace the plugs when you put a new engine in something... And to head off a few replies- I KNOW some of you get that kind of mileage on your waterboxers. I suspect you're in the minority. -Simon
