Subject: Is an '89 engine compatable with an '87 Syncro??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Dear vanagoners,

Is an '89 engine compatable with an '87 Syncro?? I am considering buying a used engine from an '89 Syncro that has 100K miles for $450 that includes the computer and idle stabilizer, sensors and a few other parts. I just want to make sure that the '89 parts & engine will work ok with my '87?? Also does $450 seem fair?? I am told that the engine ran fine and heads dont leak. But this is about the time they start leaking, I think. My current engine also "runs fine" but it has an intermittant missing problem that my mechanic cant solve. A vw shop said I needed to replace my heads for $1800... Thanks all, for any thoughts on this,

Peter printmasterstudio@yahoo.com (you can reach me direct or post online)
