I use KYBs and so far have put just over 60K miles on them. I don't know if it's my lighter Westy without the sink, stove and boat anchor, but they are quite rough on small bumps. Big hits are handled very well and have been impressed with them on ugly and rutted dirt roads and on road stability is quite good with well-controlled sway, but the trade off is apparent when the small square-edged bumps are transmitted directly into the body. I recently drove a full Westy with milder shocks and liked the ride better even with the tough 8-ply tires. Based on that experience I'd go with the milder shocks and invest in a rear anti-sway bar.
