Porsche 911s in the late 60s and early 70s had a dual battery setup. I had a '72 911 for 20 years.

That brings back memories. I had a rust free 1969 911E for a long while. Completely stock and unmolested, no modifications. Mechanical fuel injection, factory fog lights. That is the only car I wish I still had. All the others I can live without, but that 911 was different.
