I've been thinking about doing this with the syncro carcass. I'm thinking one would cut at the body seam in front of the rear wheels, and at the front door's front edge, then put the front end onto the front of the rear. Then you could cut the entire window area out, and lower the roof (widening it somewhat), to sit atop the lower part. Cut out the bulk of the engine area, leaving just the wheel wells, and build the floor out into a box encompassing the old engine area, and you've got pretty good cargo room. Maybe the top could hinge up- with minimal reinforcement, you could re-use the hatch struts. Also, moving the roof down lets you keep the drip rails- good place to mount the bike rack!
