Subject: syncro in Ocracoke- short trip report
Content-Type: text/html

<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV class=RTE></DIV> <P>It's been a week since we left KCMO in our 89 syncro for the beautiful Outer Banks and Ocracoke Island. Our annual pilgrimage to solitude on the beach. The syncro performed well all the way to Rodanthe where it decided not to start after a fueling stop. Half an hour away from the ferry. Oh the agony. Turned out to be ground wires and about 160$ in labor. Friendly people here gave us a loaner for two days while Dale's Auto Service in Salvo tried to find the electrical bug.</P> <P>The syncro never seizes to amaze me. After our Moab trip last spring I have become&nbsp; confident in its ability off road, but now even&nbsp;sand dunes with deep ruts don't worry me. We are usually fully loaded with two kids and all the beach toys they may want. The van just plows right through the access ramps with deep sand.</P> <P>And of course the stares and looks of amazement by the surf community here on the island. We have the only van on the beach - totally stock - and they simply can't understand how we make it onto the beach. Priceless!!!</P> <P>Van sightings: 1400 miles on I-64 and not a single vanagon. Some on the Outer Banks. Cheers,<BR><BR><BR>Hermann de Boer </P> <DIV></DIV>Kansas City,Missouri <DIV></DIV>87 Westy "Eurospec" <DIV></DIV>89 Syncro GL <DIV></DIV>"...even if you win the rat race, you are still a rat..." <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr> <a href="http://g.msn.com/8HMBENUS/2737??PS=47575">Stop worrying about overloading your inbox - get MSN Hotmail Extra Storage!</a> </html>
