Karl is one of the people with enough experience to be able to pull it off. It isn't a trivial conversion however. The floor pan is the same (unibody construction and all that), but there are quite a few other modifications....

The gas tank in a 2wd is up front, Syncro's gas tanks are in the rear. And all the plumbing and such that go with a different tank location. There are front axle differences, spring differences (Syncros sit up higher than late model 2wd). Of course the drive shaft, skid plate, front transaxle, etc.

Some features (locking differential vacuum lines etc.) are unique to the Syncro. Speedometer and cable are different.

Anything I've missed, Karl?

Of course, since I'm assuming this would be his personal vehicle, he might choose to make some differences (21 gallon tank up front, maybe?)
