   Hi,
   i read the explanation on the working of the ve pump,
   on the net.I have a va pump that is driving me nuts.It
   has suddenly refused to work.After fixing my piston
   rings and fuel filters my case ih 533 tractor won't
   fire on the number 3 cylinder!The line is frothing
   instead of producing a pure diesel stream.Can i get a
   detailed diagram on the working of this series of
   pumps?Is there a cloged vent,valve or why won't the
   distributor head fill with diesel?I have checked and
   even replaced my fuel lines and filters to no avail.

The only thing I can think about is that there is a leak
somewhere. From the distributor (Verteiler-) head the high
pressure diesel goes through the valves, injection line and
injector. Did you try to take a known good valve (e.g. from one
of the other cylinders) injector and line and put on number 3,
then observe if the spray pattern looks good?

Otherwise I don't know. I think various subassemblies including
the distributor head and plunger can be bought separately
as a service part if there is a problem in the pump itself.
