You should start the engine with a 10/30 or 10/40
I would not let the engine idle for the first 1/2 hour running then change
the oil with the same thinner grade oils and drive it around TOWN with as
few red light idling stops as possible for the next 1 too 3 hundred miles.
Next repeat the oil change this time changing the filter also. IF you are
going constant highway before or driving after this then you need to be
using 20/50 this time of year
> -Second oil change
third oil change 1000 miles
> oil change intervals
then every 1500 to 2500 depending on driving conditions and loads
> -Oil grade???
20/50 any major brand no synthetics for the first 6 to 10 k
> braking driving
I'm not concerned about shifting points as much as sustained load. the
faster miles an hour the higher the load. The extra heat of the rings during
brake is why the new engine is at risk of piston scuffing and cylinder
glazing
This next part is the Shameless plug
Boston Engines have the new cylinders honed for increased oil clearance to
the piston skirt and a finer finish honing. I do this to reduce heat and
insure the cylinders are round
going faster miles an hour with the radio on
and thinking good thoughts for Larry's new mill
I remain
Boston Bob
PS Larry when are you coming to Boston we can go down the cape, get some
cheap sun glasses and cruse main street with the radio on
( WTRO )
