Is there actually a book (or more likely a database) that auto repair people
use to do labor estimates for repairs? I had heard somewhere that there
was.
It's a useful thing to know - and to be able to find out the book times -
because it gives a reasonable upper bound on the cost of paying for repairs.
Does anyone know if it is exists, or how to access the information?
Joy

That's a trick question ! It all depends on how many exhaust studs and
bolts break and have to be drilled, tapped, helicoiled, or repaired in some
weird fashion. Clean up time of the exhaust port gasket surface may also
be
necessary as may be the gasket surface of the new pipe flanges. Every case
is
different. I have seen in my shop a wide range of scenarios ! No way to
make an estimate !
