You're trying to move the sleeve in the wrong direction. You need to pull it, not push it. You can grab it with a pair of pliers, as the tranny oil makes it slippery. Also, since it is just a sleeve and nothing runs on it, if you make any slight indentions in it with the pliers it will not matter.
