Subject: Tires...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I have my heart set on Michilin Agilis tires but right now I cannot afford them. My westy is outfitted with cheapo Sams club, car tires and they make a horrible racket when exceeding 40mph. I just had a successful trip to Bonaroo "bon- a - rooooooooooooo..." and think it is time to stop toying with flat tire fate.

Has anyone installed less expensive tires that are appropriately load rated for the vanagon and provide a stable, quiet ride?

Yokohama Y356 are half the price of the Agilis. Are they a solid tire?

and while I'm on the subject, will installing 15 inch rims and tires improve the ride quality of the westy? I have read some pretty crazy claims on gowesty that seem beyond the potential effects a tire can provide. For instance, less tractor trailor blow by, less roll, less succeptable to wind gusts... GoWesty installs Michelin HydroEdge 215/65-15 on alloy wheels for slightly more than a set of four Agilis. Their claims are impressive and believable but I'd hate to find out the hard way that these tires do not cut mustard. GoWesty have an excellent reputation and I trust that they would not stay in business if this package did not live up to expectations, however, I'd love a personal story.

Thanks

Rusty
