The tower has an oring to seal it to the case not likely that its the problem and the nuts holding it in place are known to brake the stud if rusted. Look at the breather hose from the tower to the intake boot it often collapses and restricts the crank case pressure making an oily mess. Sometimes a hose that is not oil resistant is used and it succumbs to the exposure of oil or the original hose is played out and needs replacing
