You bring up a good point, Ron. The "US spec" was the vendor's phrase, not mine. Perhaps he was referring to vehicles in the US market, not so much the DOT approval aspect? Not sure if Vanagons in other countries had similar lighting schemes for markers, etc.

At any rate, I think enforcement agencies (excluding you folks who have state vehicle inspections) look the other way as far as lighting mods go as long as you aren't running prohibited colors or flaunting vehicle code. But if they want a reason to eyeball you closer, running clear/smoked lens could very well do it. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is if you run a clear lens with an amber or red bulb (as applicable) in place of a like-colored lens; red is still red, amber is still amber.

ps- Ron, is anyone going to answer my email about the bare door panels for an early 80's Vanagon? Need to know if the P008's will fit. Thanks.
