I'll find the manual somewhere on the Internet, I know for sure - but = where is the best place to mount it - under the van?

Let me hear your ideas and experiences.

Just a quick suggestion: The BN2 can be hard to light. It has a glow plug (>1970), but no spark ignition like the BN4. Use heavy gauge wire to supply the heater, it needs it for the glow plug. I prefer the BN4 because it lights much easier, it is a little larger though. The BN4 has spark ignition and a glow plug.
