Good point ! We did a complete overhaul on the engine of our Opel Rallye car only do discover that the oil pressure gauge was broken ... OK, the engine was a bit worn and in need of a new hotter camshaft and a tougher clutch but none of that was the cause of low oil pressure ! The original oil pressure sender is almost always of good quality and accurate so if youŽre installing an oilpressuregauge use a T-joint down at the engine and have the old sender with warninglight in use too ! After a while youŽll get fed up with staring at a gauge and the light will always alert you !

BTW As a little curiousity - the Oil light sender works as grounding, low oilpressure means the lightbulb is grounded and lights up so on the above mentioned Rallyecar we ran a wire from the coil to the oilsender with the result that if we lost oilpressure the engine would stop !
