You need to remove the fasteners for the headliner, just forward of where your westy top secures. Then you can slip your hand inside and hold the heads as you secure the rear of the carrier.

Before you put the carrier back on, glue some screened washers (the kind they use for laundry hoses) so that they stick up from the underside of the carrier. This will cut down on the crap that collects under the carrier over time.

I'd change the hardware on the carrier while I was at it too, I think gowesty sells stainless stuff...
