Volks,

The fun has begun.

Last night at 5pm we started the engine R&R.

By 9pm the old engine was on the floor in Ben's garage.

We were all curious ... so began pulling heads and such.

First finding,

All the temp fixes that Jerry Avis (Mechanic Extraordinaire) put in lace in Oregon held for the duration of the trip.

One example ... using a shorter Air Cooled Push Road in one location to get the value tolerances because of a rapidly sinking/recessed value seat.

Awesome job Jerry!

The lifter problems I had during the last half of the 3100 mile trip were from a different cylinder.

Not to mention blow head gaskets, broken alternator brackets, burst coolant hoses and other sundry problems of unknown origin.

If you are interested following along with a bunch of crazy French Canadians and one whacked American trying to put the road back into Roadhaus ...

Here's the page Ben put together.

We will attempt to update it daily as we move forward with the AVP Engine install.
