Doesn't seem to affect the noise level; and 2) Will I have to replace the muffler when putting on a new tailpipe since the clamp seems to have rusted away. And can Midas repair this kind of problem or is it beyond their capabilities? < < Gerry, it is OK to drive your van with the tail pipe broken off. Midas, well, I would not let them within a million miles of any of my Vans. Unless you know someone there that has actual Vanagon exhaust experience you'd be better off finding someone who has actual Vanagon exhaust experience and you can trust to do it right. If you need to change your muffler please consider my _STEBRO/Vanagon Stainless Steel Muffler_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm) with integral tail pipe and mounting brackets. < <
