Hi all Last year I replaced my horn by a new horn ( not a VW horn by the way). It was working fine last year ( I used it maybe 3 or 4 times). This year my horn is not working anymore. (works fine if I put 12 Vdc directly from a battery). The ohmmeter is reading about 1.2 ohm from the horn terminals. The voltage drops to 7 Vdc at the horn terminals when the horn switch is depressed. If I connect the brown/blue wire (horn end) to the frame and measure the ohm between the brown/blue wire (steering end and disconnected from the slip ring under the steering) and the column steering, I got 0.5 to 0.6 ohm. My question is : Is it possible the impedance is too low on this horn? What is the impedance for a VW horn? It looks like there is a lot of voltage drop trough the wire going from the horn to the horn switch. Is there any other wire junction between the horn and the connector underneat the steering. Thank you Germain |
