There are 2.0 engines, and then there are 2.0 engines. Your 2000 engine, isn't the same as the 1995 equivalent 2.0 that is in the Tiico kit. There are differences on the intake, and ECU. Recent supercharger kits will work on your engine, but not my engine, as one example of the differences.

Yes, the 2.0 is definitely a step up from the 2.1 Wbx engine. Yes, it really starts showing it's advantages at higher RPMs. But consider this:

In my WBX powered vanagons, I rarely ran the engine much above 4200 rpms. I felt it too dangerous to do so. That meant I was limited to useful rpms from about 2000-4200. On a grade, that usually meant I had to sit in 3rd gear significantly below the speed limit.

With the 2.0 Tiico engine in my GoldBrick (7 passenger Syncro), I have no qualms revving the engine to 6000rpms. 5000rpms in 3rd gear is 55-60 mph. Suddenly, I can now downshift and maintain speed on the grades. That is a BIG deal for me.

Your considerations may differ.
