My temp gauge moves all over the place; from a full needle's width under the LED on the open road in cooler weather, to a full needle's width above the LED in stop-n-go traffic with or without A/C. The radiator cooling fan run times don't correspond to any position of the gauge needle because the fan is on when the A/C is on and because of the large physical distance between the gauge and fan sensors. Lately, my radiator fan is on the 2nd speed anytime I stop because of high side pressure in the A/C system.

I quit constantly monitoring the temp gauge a long time ago. I have also stopped waiting for the impending breakage of the 3-4 slider in the original transmission since the van went over 200k miles (now over 230k). I'm sure now I have said that publicly, it will fail tomorrow :>).

I'll be camping this weekend and most of next week, but not in the Vanagon, its too hot, I'll be in the Wanderlodge.

Happy 4th,
