I dunno, maybe people are sick and tired of being pounced on and beat about the head when they post. Seems to me that this list is for the exchange of what is by its nature obscure information about an obscure automobile, which by default necessitates exposing the posters' ignorance and/or misinformation- or they wouldn't be asking. With various malignant personalities poisoning the atmosphere and just waiting in the shadows to flame some unfortunate person looking for help or trying to offer help (even if they make a mistake in doing so), it's no wonder if people are being driven away, or even just driven into lurking. It should be enough to correct mistakes or misinformation, or even to offer a differing opinion, without resorting to personal attacks on someone's intelligence, politics, nationality, age, choice of operating system/email program, mechanical aptitude, ability to use English or whatever perceived weakness or fault presents itself.

Of course all of that should go without saying, but there will always be folks that either don't get it or just refuse to be civil.

Life goes on, Robert
