Subject: Ignition Switch Mystery....Help Please!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello All:

I purchased an Ignition Switch for my 2.1 Carat...my mechanic said I could check it by dropping the plastic panel below the steering, pulling the wire connector plug off the old switch, attaching it to the new switch and turning it with a screwdriver.

I did this...at the first position the power is on (fuel pump runs, oil light blinks, etc) but when I turn the screwdriver a little further to engage the starter all is hear is a clicking sound from somewhere under the dash...the engine doesn't begin to turn over.

Some history...last week my Low Beams went out while driving. I could turn on the High Beams...but had to hold the lever in as it wouldn't stay in the High position. I got home by holding in the High Beams. Next day the lights worked fine (low and high)...but one of the H3 bulbs was out...so I replaced it.

All was well until the next morning when I went to start the Van and there was no response upon turning the key.

Any suggestions???

Thanks! Kevin
