It will work perfectly, as it is an OEM Volkswagen seal. Most of the world didn't get chrome trim; this was largely a U.S. feature. In fact even in the U.S., most Vanagons from 1988 on lacked the trim as well. The windows and body are identical whether your van has chrome moldings or not. Only the seal differs. So if you buy the seal that does not require the trim, you can do away with it for once and for all with no adverse effects whatsoever. In fact this is what I would recommend. Although we do sell both styles (and replacement trim as well), the replacement trim will eventually discolor just like the original one did. So unless you really love that look, why not just do away with it?
