A friend has a dead 81 VW Rabbit Convertible sitting at a parking garage in Los Angeles. The plan was to donate to charity, but I've been reading how most of those are scams, and at least one that we called wouldn't pick up a not-running car of that age. Before it died, it was running fine, but had the fuel pump replaced recently. When last attempted to start (after being parked overnight), reportedly, it would turn over but not start, so my best guess is that the fuel pump died again, or fuel filter clogged, or perhaps a fuse has blown. The car is not in great shape, but was driveable, and as a convertible may be worth something for parts. My friend just wants to get rid of it and know that someone will put it to good use (fix it, part it out, or donate it to a non-bogus charity, whatever). If you are interested, please contact me off-list. She will give the car to the person who can do it with the least amount of hassle (if you can't fix it and drive it off, you agree to tow it). Thanks! -mike |
