Here's another one. The tank was bone dry when I added $20 of gas. The >tank only took $18.50 (~9 gallons) and then proceeded to leak. ? > >Any help would be great. -John >

'80 Westy - bought a few years ago. The fuel leak when filling, in our case, was the gasket (filler pipe to tank) when topping off - don't top off til it's fixed! Our's round tripped CA to CO, mid OR and 1/2 way down Baja with that problem - but it has a new gasket now - thanks to the BusDepot - they're not that easy to find on the west coast. I read some other good advice you've gotten on fuel lines but the gasket was our problem.

The spirit of the list seems to be helping others with knowledge gained through VW experiences - some know exponentially more than others - it's a matter of asking, sharing and (hopefully) having fun doing it!

Pete
